If you’ve always been frustrated by the prospect of having to break in a brand new baseball glove, you can pack away your shaving cream and glove oil. Yesterday, Nike introduced its new Vapor 360 fielding glove, which is the first ever that doesn’t require any breaking in.

According to Nike’s website, the glove combines Hyperfuse construction, Nike Flywire, and a specifically engineered leather palm so that it can be used immediately after purchase. “We’ve taken a traditional leather for the palm and perforated it to remove some of the structure so it forms more quickly,” said Matthew Hudson, a Nike Baseball Senior Designer. “Therefore, the glove is ready to use straight out of the box.”

The flywire technology in the thumb and forefinger of the glove make for an individualized fit, which is important for anyone who values comfort in a glove. It’s also much lighter than other models.

Here's a closer look at the glove:

So far, Carlos Gonzales of the Rockies and rookie sensation George Springer of the Astros have both used the new model.

“My first impression was ‘Wow, this is different,’” Gonzalez said. “Once I put it on and played catch in camp, everything clicked. This is what I was looking for. I wear this glove and I feel like I can catch any ball.”

CarGo has certainly proven his ability to do that in his six years with the Rockies. He has won three Gold Gloves as an outfielder in Colorado. Check out this sliding catch he made against the Reds, and watch as he flashes his new mitt after the play:

If you’re not in love with the neon green color, rest easy. Both Springer and Gonzalez have slightly different models in black, so you’ve got to think those will be available soon.
