Missy Franklin and the Science of Her Olympic Swimming Success 2

Missy Franklin has had an outstanding 2012 London Olympic Games so far, taking home two golds and a bronze at the Aquatics Centre. The 17-year-old swimmer — a former Sports Illustrated Kids SportsKid of the Year finalist — uses her size and strength to propel her quickly through the water. This video, courtesy of NBC Learn and the NSF, explains the science behind her gold-medal skills and how her 6'1" frame and size-13 feet contribute to her success.

Tthat's pretty amazing because people can actually find out stuff like that.

FYI-Note that nearly 90% of the thrust comes from the legs. The main job of the arms is to assist during the weak points of thrust thoughout the kicks. (=
