Welcome to my first edition of NBA Power Rankings! For the rest of the 2012 season, this will be the place to see how your favorite team stacks up against the rest of the NBA.

So far it's been clear that LeBron James and the Miami Heat are the team to beat this season — they've earned the top spot by getting off to an 8-2 start. The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Chicago Bulls have been dominant as well, and young teams such as the Philadelphia 76ers, Indiana Pacers, and Utah Jazz have been much better than expected. On the flip side, veteran squads such as the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics have struggled, but they have the star power to bounce back strong. With a whirlwind 66-game schedule, it will be an exciting couple of months for hoopheads.

I'll update these rankings every Wednesday during the regular season, so check back every week to see whether your team is moving up or down. If you think your team is too low or you have a question about your favorite players, post them in the comments below. I'll address the best ones every day! Now, on to the rankings.

Celtics All dAy bAby!!!!!!!! :)

Miami is good

NOOOOO boston ALL DAY!!!

The Clips should be higher with kaman, griffin, and cp3.

No. Just because the Heat think they are great doesnt mean they are. "We're gonna win 7 championships". 0 for 1 Lebron. Breaking promises...

Miami should NOT be #1!!!
Miami lost their last 3 games in a row.
I do agree with Chicago, though. and the Trail Blazers.

GO HEAT #1!!!

The jazz should be higher they were on a 5 game streak until the lakers beat them.

But on number 5. seat wake up HoopHead it dosen't look like a good start for The Mavs.

I totalLy agree with the number one seat Lebron is still KING!!!!!!***:)

what with new york at #15?!!!!

Mavericks are too high! Just because they won the championship last year doesn't mean they're going to be good.

Thanks for putting my Lakers at #4

That is not true the Lakers belong at 10 or 11.

the lakers don't belong at four

Celts are to low also

The Clippers are to low with Chris Paul AND Blake Griffin.

I agree with every singel spot!!!! but then again I have not been following NBA becose of the NFL playoffs, I will follow NBA once the NFL playoffs are over, but I will take your word for it becose I trust you hoophead
