On Saturday afternoon, both All-Star teams practiced in front of fans at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The teams did some shooting drills, and then East coach Doc Rivers had both teams face off in a jump shooting contest. The practice was a light workout, and players seemed to enjoy it. As West coach Gregg Popovich explained a drill, Russell Westbrook put his arms around Kevin Love and Blake Griffin, and the trio shared a laugh (take a look at the photo to the right). It was a reminder that while these guys battle on the court, many of them are friends off it, having spent a lot of time traveling together on the AAU circuit in high school. After practice, there was another shooting contest, this time in an attempt to set the Guinness World Record for most three-pointers made by a duo in 60 seconds. Paul Pierce and Ray Allen were the first pair to shoot and made 13 treys (they were booed by the pro-Laker crowd). That record didn't last very long as Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Durant were up next and sank 15 three-pointers.
The media was then let on the court for a 30 minute interview session. It was a chaotic scene with so many reporters, cameramen, coaches, and players sprawled all over the court. But it was still easy to spot All-Stars like Chris Bosh, who was head and shoulders above everyone else (see photo below if you don't believe me).
