I'm not normally very big on tennis. But recent events have me thinking maybe I need to pay more attention to what's happening at this year's U.S. Open.
No, not because of Melanie Oudin's upset of four-seed Elena Dementieva. Like I said, I don't spend much of my designated sport-watching time trailing the racquet bracket. I'll let The Brain explain how awesome Oudin's upset is.
I'm talking about all the major GearHead statements being made at the Open. Like Oudin's sneakers!

Turns out Oudin's hot-pink-and-yellow low-tops are one-of-a-kind Adidas Barricade V's. "GearHead, why are they one-of-a-kind," you ask (my hearing's really awesome)? Because Ouidin designed the sneakers herself, using miadidas.com, Adidas' online sneaker-customizing store. So if you want a pair, you'll have to visit the site and build 'em yourself from scratch...
...which isn't such a bad thing really, if you're into sneakers like I am. :)
Below are a close up look at Oudin's sneaks, as well as those being worn by fellow-American Sam Querrey, who also designed one-of-a-kind's for the Open.
Let me know what you think after you check them out!
