It's September, and that means it's time for Phillies SS Jimmy Rollins ($8,500,000) to get rolling. Rollins's September/October numbers since 2004 have been, quite simply, ridiculous. In 126 games (about three quarters of a season), Rollins has hit .325 with 23 homers, 39 doubles, 15 triples, 109 runs, 90 RBIs, and 41 steals. Midway through September 20008, Rollins is at it again, hitting .365 with two homers and four steals. Look for him to have one of baseball's strongest finishes again. THE FINAL BASEBALL MAILBAG OF 2008This is it. The baseball season lasts until Sunday, September 28, but this upcoming Monday is the last time fantasy baseball managers will set their lineups. The Wiz, Duane the BDW, Sarah "The Brain" Braunstein of Dugout Dispatches, and Professor Ulane would like to take this opportunity to thank all you fantasy managers and mailbag readers out there. We are absolutely honored to have some of the smartest readers anywhere, and a lot of you guys and girls often give us good laughs with your jokes. Of course, if you don't want to wait for baseball's 2009 Opening Day to get your fantasy fix, you can always play SIKIDS.com Fantasy Football, and after that, Fantasy Basketball. Hopefully, we'll see you in the football mailbag soon! WOW LEAGUE WEEK 18: PABLO TAKES THE PRIZEThere were a couple of big scores this week, but no one topped Pablo from Florida (team ckyh), who blew up with an impressive 373 points. Here's what Pablo had to say: WOW league champ, it feels great to be king! Yanks rock! So does Aaron Rodgers! I knew he'd be a beast. And the Panthers! Go Smitty! Well said, Pablo. And a lot of teams getting shout outs. The final two baseball WOW League weekly champions will get their shout outs in the football mailbag, which you'll be able to see every Friday throughout the NFL season! And, of course, if you want to take on the Wiz, the BDW, the Gridiron Guru, and Power Rankings Professor Ulane, you can join the Football WOW League by sending a request through the response box. HOW TO SIGN UP FOR THE WOW LEAGUEIf you want to get involved in the Wizard challenge and join the WOW League, just send a request through the question box. Be sure to include a valid email address. Then we'll send you an official invite. VERY IMPORTANT NEW INSTRUCTIONS: If you are already in a league, and you want to join the WOW League, you'll have to sign up using a DIFFERENT email address!!! If you use the same email address as the one you used to join your first league, our computers get confused and think you're trying to join your original league all over again. In short, you won't be allowed to join WOW. ALSO, if you have an AOL account, your invitation might be blocked out. If you haven't received your invite within 7 days of your request, you have three choices: (1) Have your parents lower the security setting on your AOL account, (2) Have your parents help you sign up for a new account with a server like GMAIL or YAHOO, or (3) Have your parents send in your WOW League request through their email account. And remember, we're taking week-by-week standings only. So even if you sign up late, you can still be a WOW League champion and get to tell us your two cents. Be sure to have your lineup set 30 minutes before the first game of each week. FANTASY MAILBAGWho do you think I should get: Cardinals 1B Albert Pujols ($7,500,000) or Red Sox 1B David Ortiz ($8,300,000)? P.S. It's Red Sox over Brewers in four games. The Brewers won't score a single run! Unless he makes a last-minute decision to undergo elbow surgery before the season ends, Pujols should be your pick, Phil. He's still the best hitter in baseball, and Pujols has proved it by hitting well over .400 over the past month. Hey Wiz! I was just wondering, who is the best catcher of these choices: Braves C Brian McCann ($4,900,000), Indians C Victor Martinez ($6,600,000), or Dodgers C Russell Martin ($6,300,000)? Ooh tough call, Will. Like I've been saying, it's not the time of year to be looking for big things from your catcher. It's an exhausting position to play, and they often fade late in the year. If I had to go with one of those guys over the final two weeks, I guess it would be Martinez. Because he missed all that time with injuries, he should be fresh over the late-season stretch. Martin's not bad either since he and the Dodgers might be fighting for a playoff spot.
