QINGDAO, China (AP) -Chinese windsurfer Yin Jian was won the host nation's first-ever Olympic sailing gold medal with a win in the women's RS:X class. Italy's Alessandra Sensini won the silver and Britain's Bryony Shaw scored bronze.

The 29-year-old Chinese sailor with a silver medal from Athens stunned rivals with three straight wins follow by two third places in the 10-race opening series, before falling off the pace with seventh and eighth places.

Going into the medal race Wednesday that counts double, Yin had a five-point lead on Sensini and needed at least a fourth place to take gold if Sensini, a three-time Olympic medalist, won the final.

But Yin finished third behind Sensini and Shaw to snag the gold medal.
